Our Vision

about us

The Frame

Our vision is to see lives deeply transformed by Jesus for the sake of the world.  We are guided by the four anchors of our Vision Frame – Our Mission, Our Motives, Our Map, and Our Marks.

Our Mission

Our mission at New Life Fellowship is to be a multiracial community deeply transforming lives through Jesus for the sake of the world.

about us

Our Motives

Our values, known as our “5 Ms,” shape the way we seek to follow Christ together at New Life Fellowship. They undergird our spiritual formation practices and inform our mission to love and serve our world.

A life oriented by rhythms of prayer, silence, solitude, rest and community
Our Monastic value informs the kind of rhythms we seek to live in our fast and busy city. At New Life, we draw deeply from the contemplative and monastic tradition. As the Desert Fathers and Mothers (and subsequently, monks did), we seek to “fashion a desert” in the midst of a world desperately in need of God. To that end, we endeavor to live a slowed down spirituality

A spirituality that intentionally bridges racial, cultural, economic & gender barriers
The gospel is good news that tears down walls and builds bridges. We are a community with people from over 75 nations and from all along the socioeconomic spectrum. We value being a church that gives a preview of what God’s kingdom will look like when Jesus fully and finally reigns.

eMotional Health

A spirituality committed to interiority for the sake of loving well
At the core of the Christian faith is love. Jesus commands us to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Our eMotional Health value seeks to help us do this practically. We are all invited to look beneath the surface of our lives to experience the deep, transformational power of Jesus.

Marriage to Christ

Ordering our marriages/singleness & sexuality out of a deep theology of marriage to Christ
We place a high value on healthy marriages, families, and singles. Throughout scripture, we see the theme of marriage as central to understanding our relationship with God. This value informs how we prioritize a theology of the body, marriage, singleness, and sexuality.

Living as people sent by God in mission for the purpose of justice, evangelism and the shalom of our world, for the sake of the kingdom
We seek to offer ourselves as a gift to our neighborhood, city, and the world. We believe that every Christian is called to “full-time ministry”—serving Christ in every sphere of life. We also are committed to serving the poor and marginalized. One of the primary ways we do this is through our New Life Community Development Corporation.

about us

Our map

We are not interested in simply being a crowd of people on Sunday mornings.  We want to build deep, authentic connections–cultivating places where we can really know others and be known.

We value deep, beneath-the-surface life transformation. We aren’t about doing the same old things with a religious veneer. We aim to grow deeply in love for God, others, and ourselves–going back to go forward, and learning how our families and past experiences have shaped us over time so that we can become more truly who God has made us to be.

We value giving out of who we really are, in the unique ways that God has made each of us, and in particular, serving our local community in Elmhurst, Queens.
About Us

Our Marks

We are shaped by an ancient practice, used by communities of Christians for nearly 2000 years, called a Rule of Life. The meaning of Rule comes from the Greek word for trellis. A trellis is a tool designed to enable a grapevine to get off the ground and grow upward, to become more fruitful and productive.

In the same way, a Rule of Life can be the trellis that helps us abide in Christ and become more fruitful spiritually. New Life’s Rule of Life is a descriptive and prescriptive framework to help shape spiritual practices that deepen our lives in Christ. Our Rule consists of four parts:
