What we believe

Our Statement of Faith

New Life Fellowship Church affirms the historic Nicene Creed as our primary statement of faith. All orthodox streams of Christianity affirm this creed, which dates back to the 4th century. It is more than an intellectual checklist of doctrines. It is a confession of worship that forms us as the people of God and draws us together into the life of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Nicene Creed

We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; by the power of the Holy Spirit he became incarnate from the Virgin Mary and was made man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father [and the Son].1 With the Father and the Son he is worshiped and glorified. He has spoken through the Prophets. We believe in one holy catholic2 and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen.

1 Early versions of the Nicene Creed do not contain the phrase “and the Son.”
2 Or “universal.”

Our Theological Statement

Recognizing that every generation highlights certain theological beliefs to meet their missional needs, New Life Fellowship has adopted a Theological Statement which is consistent with the teachings of Scripture and the Nicene Creed, and which informs our mission in New York City.

Therefore, we also affirm: The unique, divine inspiration, entire trustworthiness, and authority of the Bible.

The value and dignity of all people: created in God’s image to live in love and holiness, designed for a rich, intimate relationship with God, but alienated from God and each other because of our sin and guilt, and justly subject to God’s wrath.

Justification by God’s grace to all who repent and put their faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. The indwelling presence and transforming power of the Holy Spirit, giving to all believers new life and a new calling to obedient service, inviting them into an intimate relationship with God, nurtured through the practice of individual and corporate spiritual and emotional disciplines.

The unity of all believers — reconciled across gender, racial, ethnic, and class differences, manifest in worshiping and witnessing churches, making disciples throughout the world.

The equal value and authority of men and women, designed as equal partners in the stewardship of creation.
