God calls us to be generous and faithful with what He has given us. When you give, you are not only helping to transform lives, communities, and the world; you are allowing God to transform you.
Tithing is giving the first fruits of what you have to God. The word “tithe” literally means tenth or 10% and comes from a traditional Jewish law and practice of giving a tenth of one’s income. Tithing Is More Than Giving. It’s a spiritual discipline that reveals our gratitude for His blessings, reminds us that God supplies our needs, and teaches us to always put God first in our lives.
Whatever portion you choose to give – 10%, less, or more – we hope that you give prayerfully and cheerfully (2 Corinthians 2:6-8).
Father, you are an abundant giver.
There is nothing that we have that you have not given us.
The way of your kingdom is the way of generosity.
Help us to honor you with our resources.
Free us from the deceit of riches.
Lead us on the path of generosity.
For your glory, Lord, for the abundance of our own lives
and for the sake of others. AMEN.
