Dear New Lifer:
We have experienced a year like no other. Our community and the surrounding world has experienced profound disorientation and loss. While we thank God for the ways we have moved forward as a church family, I recognize the challenges before us.
In the face of uncertainty, however, the invitation remains clear. God has called us to be a people who are marked by depth and breadth; a community of deep prayer and passionate mission. This is what I want us to focus on as we head towards 2021.
Over the course of our thirty-three years we have been blessed as a church community—we have a committed and generous congregation, a wonderful staff team, and a strong sense of who God has called us to be. Over the past few years we have prayerfully considered how to take the gift of New Life beyond Elmhurst, inviting others to follow Jesus and join a community marked by five distinctive values.
This prayerful consideration is unfolding in what we are calling “New Life East.” In the Fall of 2021, we are hoping to officially launch this new community in Nassau County, Long Island. We have a tremendous opportunity to model reconciliation in a region not given to this way of being. I’m thrilled about the possibilities!
Additionally, we are deepening our commitment to train existing and emerging leaders through our New Life School of Formation, which began in the Fall of 2020. These leaders will be instrumental for the future of our congregations.
If that’s not enough, by God’s grace, there continues to be great fruit produced through our New Life CDC and Emotionally Healthy Discipleship.
Our theme this year is “Deeper and Wider.” We remain committed to helping people go deeper in Christ, out of which we offer ourselves to our community in ever-expansive ways.
This year’s goal is to reach $450,000 by December 31, 2020. All donations made after Thanksgiving will go towards this Christmas Offering.
Please review the details herein for more about our vision and ways to give. Then, pray and ask God how you are to participate. The potential impact on thousands of lives is very exciting!
In prayer and partnership,
