The purpose of the New Life School of Theology & Formation is to provide high-quality training in theology, spiritual formation practices, leadership, and missions in order to equip and release leaders at New Life Fellowship.
Our eight course curriculum is designed to grow and strengthen existing and emerging leaders in their life with Christ through biblical training, theological reflection, and spiritual formation practices.
No. However, we do strongly encourage all leaders to attend the courses. And our hope is that, if God calls, you will step out in leadership.
Theology is thinking about God, ourselves, and the world in light of God’s revelation. Spiritual formation practices are concrete activities we engage in to open ourselves more to God’s presence in our lives. Examples are prayer, silence, simplicity, and scriptural reading.
These courses are the pillars of New Life Fellowship; they make up our DNA. We strongly encourage you to take the EHS Discipleship Courses (the Emotionally Healthy Spirituality course and the Emotionally Healthy Relationships course). We also want to provide space for people to grow in other areas of theology and formation.
The courses are designed to help you grow as a follower of Jesus. Deepening our walk with Christ entails growing in our love for God and neighbor. Through the study of scripture, spiritual formation practices, and theological thinking we become more equipped with resources that help us to love God and neighbor more effectively. Our hope is that you will also be encouraged to take what you have learned and lead small groups that will explore the material in greater depth.
The calendar is to be determined, but the courses will usually take place on Monday evenings, Wednesday evenings, or Sunday afternoons. The courses will usually meet for 3 to 4 weeks.
Yes, the courses are free. Check New Life’s events page, the Sunday bulletin, and other outlets for course dates and pertinent details.
